A Tomb is a lootable location found only in Desert biomes. When the player enters a tomb and opens the sarcophagus, one of the following takes place:
- 60% of the time, the mummy rises from its sarcophagus and must be fought as an enemy.
- 40% of the time, the mummy does not rise and there is no fight. Any companion with the Superstitious ailment will lose one Loyalty, and there’s a one-in-four chance that a random companion will acquire the Cursed ailment.

If the mummy must be fought, the defeated mummy is the only loot.
If there is no fight, loot includes the mummy as well as treasure:
- One treasure item worth 70 Fame
- Two treasure items worth 50 Fame each, or each item has a chance of being replaced by two jewels
- Two jewels
These three options are equally likely. On Expedition 3 or later, the loot will also include a Moon Stone.
Unlike shrines, tombs do not cost Standing to explore and loot. However, Mummy enemies are treated as wildlife and will cost -1 Standing upon kill.
