Malaria is a temporary physical ailment that can effect both explorers and companions. It lasts ~30 days and causes +25% Sanity-cost of travel, -50% Health regeneration, and the chance of death to the afflicted character.
Terrain mosquito

This ailment is acquired only by traveling on or next to a hex with mosquitos, which are only present in Jungle/Prehistoric terrain. Mosquitoes also don't travel/migrate like other enemies, making them easy to avoid.

Malaria can be cured by resting at Healing Springs or healing at a Shaman Hut.
