The hunting dog is a combat animal that can be found in some explorers' starting parties, but cannot be recruited during the game. It cannot be mounted or carry cargo.
Like all animals, it cannot be promoted past level 1 except through Alexandra David-Neel's Animal Whisperer perk.

Tips[]
- The hunting dog is a good fighter early in the game, but will quickly become outclassed by stronger animals or promoted human companions. Its lack of carrying capacity will make it even less appealing in the mid to late game.
- David-Neel starts with a hunting dog in her party. It can become a good combat animal at levels 3 or 4, but there are better options available from beastmasters.
